The Management Team
Luke has 15 years experience in international capital markets with a focus on equity and equity derivative trading and structuring.
Luke started his career in equity derivatives trading at UBS in Johannesburg where he ran the Equity and Equity Derivatives trading desk. He was subsequently transferred to London to build and manage European Emerging Market flow trading. Luke then joined BNP Paribas in London as head of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) Equity derivatives flow trading. Luke was also instrumental in the BNP Paribas electronic market making initiatives for emerging markets, and was a primary market maker on Eurex in Russian equity derivatives.
Luke has an MBA from the University of Cambridge and is a CFA charterholder. He has a B.Econ Sci (Actuarial Science and Statistics) and B.Sc (Hons) in Advanced Mathematics of Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Greg has been a trader for 5 years, adapting his poker and entrepreneurial skills to financial markets. He excelled in the ACI dealing simulation, winning “most profitable bank” and is a registered trader with the JSE. Greg is responsible for Kaon Capital’s technical algorithmic trading system development.
Over the past 10 years, Greg has launched successful businesses in media, advertising and hospitality. He is also well known for his talents at the poker table and is considered one of Africa’s elite players, winning the All Africa Poker Tournament and events at the World Series of Poker Africa, Aussie Millions and Montecasino.
Greg graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and was awarded Academic Honours at St David’s Marist College.
Lauren has 6 years experience in financial markets in various risk management and structuring roles.
Lauren started her career as a select member of the Absa Graduate Programme, involved in product development and management of life investments. She subsequently joined the Absa Investments product development team where she structured innovative Life and LISP investment products.
Lauren then joined the RMB Global Markets Credit team responsible for non-bank financial institutions, working on a broad range of counterparties with her main focus being Exchanges & Clearing Houses, Private Equity, Asset Management and Hedge Funds. Lauren later moved to a quantitative analyst role concentrating on derivative counterparty credit risk.
Lauren is a CFA Charterholder. She has a B.Sc Actuarial Science and a B.Sc (Hons) Financial Mathematics (cum laude) from UKZN, and is a registered JSE Compliance Officer.
Conn has over 25 years experience across the major asset classes in financial markets (equity, FX and bonds).
Conn was most recently the head of Vantage Capital Markets South Africa where he led their equity derivatives broking operation.
Prior to that, Conn was seconded to London, where he established the South African equity derivatives broking division for ICAP, following which he moved back to ICAP in Johannesburg.
Conn started his career as a FX dealer at First National Bank, where he also spent time working on the Stock Exchange trading floor before moving to the government bond and bond option broking desk.
